Biography

Funeral services for Glenn E. Wynne, age 84 of County Route 35 Potsdam, will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park. Mr. Wynne passed away on January 17, 2010 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving are three daughters Sandra Wynne of Canton, Linda Suckow & her husband David of Potsdam, and Deborah Maresca & her husband Michael of Colorado; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Wilda VanDerwoorden of MT; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

A sister Joan Brooks and two brothers Neil and Bernard Wynne predeceased him.

Mr. Wynne was born on July 24, 1925 in Pyrites, NY a son of the late Glenn & Marion (Healey) Wynne. He attended Hermon & Moore’s Hill schools for his education, and married Myrtle (Birdo) on October 16, 1948 at the Canton Parsonage. She predeceased him on December 29, 1989.

Glenn operated a farm on the Finnegan Road in the town of Potsdam for several years, until 1963 when he became employed at St. Lawrence University as a custodian. He retired in 1990.

He was a member of the St. Lawrence Gas & Steam Engine Association, The Black River Fiddlers and enjoyed working on steam engines, traveling, fishing, dancing, camping and spending time with his family.

Memorial contributions can be made in Glenn’s memory to a charity of ones choice.
