Biography

Funeral services for Kimberly A. (Burdick) Mart, age 48 of the East Road in Heuvelton, will be held on Thursday (January 28, 2010) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Longbottom Officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the East Road Cemetery in Depeyster.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 & 7-9 at the funeral home. Kimberly passed away on Sunday (January 24, 2010) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Surviving is her sister Milly Bullock & her husband Edward of Heuvelton; a brother Francis Burdick & his wife Donna of Ogdensburg nieces & nephews Fran Burdick Jr. Jeff Burdick, Tom Burdick, Chris Burdick, Angie & Dan Dart, Lois & Bill Rivet, Carmen & Joe Allen, Phillip & Becky Showen, grand nieces & nephews Sarah Burdick, Ryan Dart, Thomas Rivet, Taylor Showen, Tyler Allen, Jared Showen & Annah Burdick, a great-grand nephew Troy Dewey and a brother in law William Clinger of Hermon.

A sister Sylvia Clinger and a nephew David Bullock predeceased her.

Kimberly was born on April 2, 1961 in Ogdensburg, NY a daughter of Clyde & Lois (Graveline) Burdick. She graduated from Hilton Central High School in 1979. A previous marriage to Kenneth Mart ended in divorce.

Her career began in Rochester working in a factory as a laborer, and then she transferred to a nursing home where she worked as a healthcare worker for several years. She relocated to the North Country in 1988 and began working at Compas for a period, and then transferred to the ARC where she worked in the transportation department for 12 years.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Canton and the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. She enjoyed Cross Stitching, reading, her dog Rusty, collecting Indian relics and monkeys and especially spending time with her family.

A reception will follow the funeral service at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions in her memory have been requested to the National Necrotizing Fasciitis Foundation; c/o Donna Batdorff; 2731 Porter SW; Grand Rapids, MI 49509.
