Biography

Graveside services for Clarence L. Carr, age 84 of Centennial Terrace in Ogdensburg will be held in the spring at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon. Mr. Carr passed away on Friday (January 29, 2010) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving are two daughters Debra Ann Hubbard of Jacksonville, FL and Nora Jean Janack & her companion Peter Cook of Lisbon; a sister Mae Brander of Lisbon; two grandchildren Justin Janack of Canton and Amanda Janack of Lisbon and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Clarence was born on October 19, 1925 in Waddington, NY a son of the late Bert E. & Lola (Leisert) Carr. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1944, and married Elsie Beldock on Oct 19, 1955 at the First Congregational Church in Lisbon. The couple’s marriage ended in divorce.

He farmed in the town of Lisbon and also drove bus for Flack Bus Lines until 1956 when he went to work for Stanley Dwyer for one year. He then began working at Diamond International for the next 21 years until the plant closed in 1978. During his semi-retirement, he worked odd jobs, and then worked 14 years in the receiving department at Canton ATC in the Green Thumb Program. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, traveling playing cards, listening to the news and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lisbon and a volunteer for Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley and the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department.
